Emmy Awards Awkward Moment – Presented Outstanding Guest Actor Award With A Glitch

Glitch and error is nothing new when it comes to award shows. Who can forget the iconic error when Oscar presented the Best Movie award to ‘La La Land’ instead of its correct winners, ‘Moonlight’. Keeping the legacy of errors alive, Creative Arts Emmy Awards had a glitch surfaced during the Outstanding Guest Actor Award.

Ron Cephas Jones was the confirmed winner of Outstanding Guest Actor Award in Drama for ‘This Is Us’. However, the Jason Bateman was announced as the winner for his appearance in ‘The Outsider’. But, the name displayed was still of Cephas as William Hill in ‘This Is Us’!

The production was quick to recognize its mistake and the rectification was processed soon after. It was announced that Cephas was the correct winner for the category. An official announcement from the Television Academy was made that cleared the confusion and stated that correction has been made.

It was not the only flub of Emmys on Saturday night. During the award slot for Outstanding Period and Character Hairstyling, the names of the winners were dubbed as ‘Need Names’. Although the award went to Netflix ‘Hollywood’. When Maya Rudolph won for guest turn on the show, Eddy Murphy’s win was displayed for ‘SNL’.
