‘Made By Maddie’ Producers Deny Copying ‘Hair Love’ Characters
Nick Jr.’s next upcoming series, ‘Made by Maddie’, is already in trouble for allegedly plagiarizing Matthew A. Cherry’s ‘Hair Love’. Matthew’s short film won Oscar last year and was loved by all the fans. That is why, Twitter users seemed disappointed to find uncanny similarities between the characters of the movie and series.
However, the production company of ‘Made by Maddie’ have confirmed in their official statements that they have copied no one. Waheed Alli, CEO of Silvergate Media (production company of ‘Made by Maddie’) gave proof to back up his statement.
He showed date-stamped papers that revealed that the characters of the preschool series was created in 2017. Hence, it was way before the release of ‘Hair Love’. He said that the company has been working on ‘Made by Maddie’ for the past 5 years. As creators, they loved Matthew’s work but hopes that the audience will see the original storyline of the show.
