Paramount Network To Rebrand As Paramount Movie Network – Cancels Unscripted Series
Paramount Network is all set to rebrand itself. The network will now come to be known as Paramount Movie Network and it will mainly focus on television movies. The changes come at ViacomCBS after the merger and is not the only grand change announced recently.
It was recently revealed that their up and coming online streaming platform will be called Paramount+. As the rebranding comes into the picture, a lot of existing shows will take departure. The unscripted shows like ‘Ink Master’, Battle of the Fittest Couples’, and ‘Wife Swap’ are canceled altogether. Shows like ‘Lip Sync Battle’ and ‘Bar Rescue’ have been moved to different networks of ViacomCBS.
Chris McCarthy, President of Entertainment and Youth Brands at ViacomCBS told Variety that they are planning to release around 52 original movies in one year. They will also release around 3 mini-series or a good scripted series in a year.
This new changes bring in more opportunities for television movies. They had potential but were not given the right kind of limelight. The development of these TV movies and non-scripted series will be looked after by Meghan Hooper White, Head of Original Movies and Limited Series at the network.
