Zendaya Makes History – Youngest Star To Win Emmy

Many, many congratulations to Zandaya for winning her first Emmy award. The 24-year-old actress has created history by becoming the youngest actress to win the award. Zendaya won the award for in the category of Best Actress in a Drama Series for her role in ‘Euphoria’.

The competition for Zendaya was not at all easy. In fact, she had some great competitors, who are also the some of the biggest names in the industry. Olivia Colman, Laura Linney, Jodie Comer, Sandra Oh, and even Jennifer Aniston was nominated in the category. It is to note that before Zendaya, Jodie was the youngest actress to win the award for ‘Killing Eve’.

Apart from being the youngest, she is also the only second Black woman to win this award. Viola Davis was the first Black woman to make history for winning the Emmy in this category. She won in 2015 for her iconic role in ‘How To Get Away With Murder’ (better late than never).

Emmy 2020 was also the first Emmy awards to hand over maximum number of awards to Black artists in major categories. Seven Black actors were given the award and those seven included Regina King for ‘Watchman’ and Uzo Aduba for ‘Mrs. America’.
